"Self-Made Stories: I'm A Daughter Of Immigrants & This Is My American Dream"

Social_Sofiya Ballin.png

13% of all female-owned companies are run by women who were born outside of the U.S. And a third of the world's entrepreneurial activity is driven by women. Our second panel features five amazing and diverse women who have created their own legacies against all odds. With immigration becoming such a political issue, how have these women stood their ground? How have they been influenced by being the daughter of an immigrant and growing up with a different cultural mindset? Join us for an open discussion about finding the motivation to succeed in America.

"Vanity Fair: Do Unrealistic Beauty Standards From Social Media Hold Women Back"

Social_Kaylan Wetzel.png

From social media to the runways, we're becoming more and more diluted with the fantasy of how our lives should look like. With such a filtered view on reality, beauty standards have become more extreme, hugely unrealistic, and lacking diversity. How do we change that? Join us for our third panel discussion as we chat about how the media has negatively affected our value of self-worth and confidence. How can we create new beauty standards that's inclusive and open to every shape, shade and size? How do we teach younger generations that it's not always about the likes and selfies? It's time to get real and figure out a way to turn our self-doubt into self-worth!

2:40pm - 3:00pm

F*ck The Wage Gap: A Town Hall Conversation On The State Of Women & Money

Ready to talk about something that makes us cringe? Our last panel of the day will be run in a town hall style, so come prepared to share your own stories on money, salaries, fundraising tips, how you've negotiated with employers, and more. We shouldn't be afraid to talk about money, and we deserve more of it! This discussion is just one step toward crushing that awful wage gap, and the only way we'll get there is if we work together collectively as women. Always remember, ladies: transparency is key and chase paychecks, not boys!

3:50pm - 4:30pm

Closing Keynote

"A Story On Resiliency"

Yasmine Mustafa, founder of self-defense wearable technology company ROAR for Good, will share her inspiring story and journey from the Middle East as a refugee to creating multiple startups here in Philadelphia. Perseverance and resiliency were keys to Yasmine's self-made success; her fearless mentality to overcome any obstacle or noise that came her way allowed for her to become the woman and leader we admire today. Join us as she inspires us to take our life and career decisions to the next level.

7:00pm - 9:00pm
